I am often asked this question is the Presa the best breed I have ever had, or is the Presa the best breed out of all the working breeds or who do I think it is the best pound for pound out of all other breeds I have encountered?
My answer I am not in the position to answer that question if it is the best breed out of all working breeds or even if it is the best working breed out of all medium sized working breeds. However I can deliver with confidence why the Presa Canario serves a very relevant purpose to the traditional/non traditional roles of a excellent guard who can co-exit with family life indoors/outdoors in modern society. In other words " The Social_Able Guard Dog".
1: Even if I had tested a minimum of 9 established lines of 5 various working breeds from a pup to an adult out of the best established breeding. Then after wards met with a council of nine other more experienced individuals who did the same or more it still would not answer that question. I could have tested most of the best established working lines out of all of the working breeds in the world along with a council of 9 or more of the best trainers in the world and that still could not answer that question. Due to human limitations of environment, limited tests with limited objectives and biased judgment. However after all of that I due believe the Perro De Presa Canario would be in the top 7 working breeds for civil protection especially.
Not going to happen more than likely.
However I have shared my exp with other trainers, dog men, farmers, breeders and the Presa was overall considered the best suited for family/ protection. It definitely fell in the top three of working breeds most of the above references live in N. America/Africa/EU/Asia/L America. Therefore this was still answered by individuals based on there personal exp and living environments. Again neither of the above mentioned men/women had tested all of the working breeds even within their own country/continent.
Question: Is the Perro De Presa Canario the best breed you have ever owned?
Answer: It is the best breed I have ever owned composed of bite, nerve, agility, strength, loyalty, protection,prey , defense and fight drives in one package for the urban/rural life in most of North America. If I were in the mountains of Turkey/China or desert of the Sahara I would probably have a different choice. I have not seen or had any individual representative of molosser that can bring it to the table like a well line bred Perro De Presa Canario consistently.
